The update also makes improvements to the game's Clubs mode. Richard Burns' Subaru Impreza WRC has been introduced, alongside the Kenya rally he won in 2000. Speaking of which, this update adds another five classic rally races and one extra historical car. There are now nine stages from this particular rally throughout the title, including any historical events.

October's update brought in the Renties Ypres Rally Belgium, among other things, and the November patch adds another rally to the calendar.Īfter installing the latest update, which hits the game on PlayStation 5 and PS4 today, the 2021 Acropolis Rally will be available to play across various modes, including Career. Monthly updates have added rally courses, vehicles, and more to the experience, meaning it's now a more fleshed out game. There’s also the open training area, which is a perfect place to fool around without having your co-pilot complaining next to you. It's a game that's been bubbling away pretty quietly, but developer KT Racing has been updating WRC 10 with additional content and fixes since launch in September. The franchise’s now staple career mode, complete with RPG and management mechanics, is still its main highlight. You’re also getting that sweet livery creator, which is there only to remind us there are tons of much more talented designers than us out there.

In fact, the game itself asks you to do a test run at first to assess your racing abilities in order to suggest the best level of realism and difficulty to you.Įven if the amount of modes isn’t very different from last year’s iteration, you’re still getting lots of different tracks (including a few new WRC courses, like Estonia), modes, plus classic and current cars. There are many assists you can turn on and off, such as ABS and traction control, depending on your skill.

These act just as if you were driving on a gravel road, afraid of possibly having a big pebble hitting your car from underneath. You’ll end up driving more carefully due to the constant bumps and sound effects coming out of the controller’s speakers. Acceleration feels more instinctual thanks to the DualSense’s haptic feedback and analog triggers. Cars feel more responsive to your steering. The fact that Kylotonn has finally managed to make the gameplay feel equally realistic AND intuitive is. WRC 10 looks great, but that isn’t the best thing about this PlayStation 5 version in particular.

Sure, the latter makes the game look a bit unsavory, even uglier than your average WRC on Xbox One, but let me rephrase that to you: consistent 120 frames per second.Ĭourses like this one make me realize how utterly crazy rally drivers must be in order to race under such life-threatening circumstances. Not only does it look impressive, but it features even more detailed lighting effects, and to top it off, runs at a buttery smooth 60fps on its balanced mode, and double that on performance mode. WRC 10 makes its predecessor look like Mario Kart 64. It ran at a decent framerate and featured pretty environments. Last year’s WRC 9 was a pretty good looking game for a AA Xbox One title. Let’s start with the graphical enhancements. It also has a ton of room for you to tinker its difficulty in order to actually be completely viable for newcomers. More than just a visual enhancement over its PS4 predecessors, WRC 10 features the best controls and physics in any of the franchise’s games. I just wasn’t expecting for the PS5 version of WRC 10 to be so good. They made their games work on the Switch, so I wasn’t doubting that they would be able to do so. This is the first time I’m playing a WRC game on a next-gen console (in this case, the PlayStation 5), and boy oh boy, did Kylotonn work hard in order to polish their hardy (but still a bit janky, let’s not deny that) racing games to a brand new standard.

It’s not as pretty as Dirt 5, but it’s getting there.
